recordio.chpl relied on the now defunct iostyle record. iostyle's replacement currently is an internal type, but a more principled replacement is planned. In the meanwhile, we did not want to recommend using the internal type to users, so we've relocated recordio.chpl to (TODO once the PR is finalized) in PR #19054.
Once the more principled replacement strategy is in place, we should restore this test to test/release/examples/patterns, reverting Move test/release/examples/patterns/recordio.chpl outside release/exa… · chapel-lang/chapel@12eb407 · GitHub to restore it to the Makefile and README, and removing the line in the top-level .gitignore that ignores its test.txt file that it creates.
